Is it just me, or when you look at this photo, do you feel like your eyes are tasting color?
The juicy tangerine that makes your taste buds smart.... the rich cobalt blue that you could just swim in.
I'd like to make a gown with 10-foot train out of those magenta windows!
One of my favorite ways to decorate is to choose a region of the world that I'd like to evoke the feeling of, and use that as my inspiration for the room. It doesn't matter so much if the room uses specific decor elements from that reason, it's more the feeling that place evokes.
For example, in my office I want the energy to feel like sunset in Provence. That saturating light that so seduced the worlds greatest artists; I want its warmth and glow in every corner. Therefore, I choose art that has a warm color pallet, along with soft textures like a faux sheepskin pelt to curl my toes around under my desk. Earthy, inspiring aromas of lavender and lime diffuse into the air. A tinkling chandelier lamp outfitted by Edison bulbs invokes the sparkle of Mediterranean sea.
If I decorated by esthetic alone I might choose things that represent the classic Provencal look of Shabby Chic. But when I let passion and sensation take the lead, it takes me down a very different path indeed.
What are some of your favorite places to visit that you want to remember through your senses? I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
Wishing you a sensual, grounded, passionate start to your week.
Beauty heals. I believe this with all my heart.
Almost as much as I believe in YOU.
